About Us

The Newcomers Club of Madison and Guilford began on Marh 13, 1968, with co-founders Mrs. Stanwood Dolph and Mrs. Paul Stoddard and approximately 60 members. The idea was to create a venue for new residents to become acquainted with both their communities and other newcomers. After 5 successful years of rapid growth, the club split in two, one for Guilford and one for Madison.

On June 5, 1973, the Guilford Newcomers Club was formed with a membership of 35. After the first and very successful year of 1973-74, the Guilford Newcomers Club became well established. Since then, we have been proud to have a membership of women who enjoy working and socializing together with common aims in mind. This is made possible through activities in a number of committees, special interest groups and monthly meetings with interesting programs.

Although Newcomers is primarily a social club, we do become involved with some civic activities by volunteering time and donating money and items received from fundraising events in town. Today, we are approximately 100 members and we continue to grow.
