Wine Tasting Fundraiser Event!!!!!!

Please join the Guilford Newcomer's Club for a night of great food, wine and fundraising! The wine tasting event, featuring over 60 wines, is sponsored by Shoreline Wine Merchants and will be held at the Stone House Restaurant in Guilford on Thursday, May 8th from 6:30PM-9:30PM. The event will feature a silent auction; many of the items are from local merchants and organizations. The proceeds will benefit local charities. Pre-register by May 3rd at a cost of $40 per person. It is time to nominate the 2008-2009 Board of Directors. If you would like to give back to GNC, this is a great opportunity to get involved with next years activities. Guilford Newcomers Club Board Position Descriptions
President: Presides at all meetings of the Club. Appoints chairwomen of special interest committees that she deems necessary. Serves as ex-officio member of all committees, except the Board Selection Committee. Pays bills approved by the Executive Committee in the absence of the Treasurer.
Programs: Arranges programs for monthly general meetings.
Membership: Generates and maintains the membership roster. Obtains names of new residents and invites them to participate in the Club's activities. Organizes new-member gatherings.
Treasurer: Accounts for the Club's funds.
Ways and Means: Coordinates the Club's fundraising activities with Board approval. Provides the Treasurer with reports of all projects and funds raised.
Civic-Community Service: Organizes and coordinates all aspects of both the Meals-on-Wheels programs and commitments to the Branford Soup Kitchen.
Civic-Special Programs: Organizes and coordinates any special community event in which Newcomers' Club participates, including the Thanksgiving Food Drive, Christmas Toy Drive and the Adopt-a-Family program. This position also makes recommendations regarding the disbursement of funds for charities or for community projects.
Publicity: Coordinates announcements and stories of Newcomers events for the local newspapers. Maintains the Newcomers Club website.
Recording Secretary: Records and distributes minutes from General meetings and Board meetings
Corresponding Secretary: Publishes the Club's monthly newsletter, The Greeter. Prepares the ballot for elections and prints all forms for Club activities.
Social: Plans and implements all social activities for the Club.
Special Interests: Coordinates special interest groups, such as Playgroups, Bunco, etc.
Communications: Coordinates the completion of the Newcomers Telephone Directory. Contacts members of the Club via phone or e-mail when necessary.
Hospitality: Arranges food and beverages for monthly general meetings.
Historian: Maintains a scrapbook of Club activities and events.
