Dear Fellow Guilford Newcomers,
I am very excited to serve as your president this year. A warm welcome to our new members! To our returning Newcomers, welcome back! I hope you had fun in the sun this summer. While you were away, my fellow board members and I were busily brainstorming new
and exciting activities for our upcoming year.
Our main mission at Guilford Newcomers is to promote friendship, offer you fun girls’ night outs, and help
you navigate around town. Whether you need help finding fulltime childcare, a hairdresser Jennifer Aniston would approve of, or the nearest Costco or Ann Taylor, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or other Newcomers.
To tell you a little bit about myself, I grew up in Guilford, but lived in Manhattan and worked in fashion for
most of my adult years (a.k.a. extended childhood). Fours years ago, I gave birth to my twin girls and returned to Guilford to raise my daughters as a single mom. As much as I loved New York’s endless supply of
gourmet restaurants, gourmet grocers, and Banana Republics, I wanted my daughters to grow up in a town
where people opened doors for moms pushing strollers and where fellow drivers readily let you switch lanes.
Like many of you, I also moved to Guilford because I wanted to feel comfortable sending my girls to the public schools.
This is my third year serving on the board of Guilford Newcomers. Over the past two years, I have had a great time infusing some urban sensibility and creativity into events in my roles as Programs Chair and Social Chair. My goal this year is to ramp up a more relaxed attitude at our meetings, give you some laughs, and
help you foster lasting friendships.
